To strengthen our Discovery Biology department based in our Cambridge, MA hub, we are seeking a creative and dynamic Associate Scientist - Gene Therapy Analytical Development to join our Gene Therapy Vector Core - Analytical Development team.

This talented Associate Scientist will have experience in Analytical Characterization for AAV gene therapy products, focusing on cellular, molecular, and biophysical routine testing. They will support multiple therapeutic gene therapy programs by conducting routine testing for AAV vectors to assist with process development activities and preclinical studies.

You will contribute by:

• Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to conduct routine analytical testing, including ddPCR, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, CE-SDS, and SEC-HPLC within UCB Gene Therapy Vector Core to support UCB gene therapy programs
• Routinely perform internal testing activities to support vector biology and discovery group for Gene Therapy Platform activities, and UPD/DPD for AAV scalable process development activities
• Ability to analyze and report testing results using analytical software: e.g., Bio-Rad ddPCR software, SoftMax Pro and GraphPad Prism
• Ability to conduct good laboratory documentation activities using Electronical Notebook (ELN) and electronic registry system.
• Standardize and improve the electronic data capture and reporting for multiple laboratory test methods
• Support cell-based potency assay development and testing activities
• Author and technical review analytical SOPs. Ability to conduct QC data reviewing for routine testing results and provide technical insight for result interpretation *
• Assist analytical method transfer to external CROs and CDMOs, as needed
• Improve standard testing methods to allow for high throughput or more accurate quantification

Interested? For this position, you'll need the following education, experience, and skills:

• Master's degree with 4 years or Bachelor of Science with 6 years relevant industry experience in Biochemistry or Cellular and Molecular biology. AAV Gene Therapy experience is a big plus
• Minimum 3 years of experience working in large molecular drug development within Analytical characterization and/or QC test.
• Hands-on experience on AAV characterization testing using ddPCR/qPCR, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, CE-SDS and HPLC
• Ability to engage/communicate in a multidisciplinary fast paced environment.
